Some Register Rewards offered give you the full amount back that you paid for a product. For example, you pay $3.99 for toothpaste and you get a Register Reward back for $3.99. It's like getting the toothpaste for free! You can't chain your Register Rewards for the same offer though. So if you use the $3.99 Register Rewards for the same toothpaste you won't get another Register Reward. But you can use the Register Reward for a different brand which also has a Register Reward attached. This is called rolling your Register Rewards. Example, you use the Crest toothpaste $3.99 Register Reward to buy a box of Kelloggs Cereal that has a $2.00 RR attached. You can then use that $2.00 RR for another tube of Crest toothpaste. You can do this over and over. Just remember you can't use a RR on the same product in a row and get another RR for that product.
Don't expect to buy 3 Crest toothpastes in one transaction and get 3 RRs. You will only get one back. But you can buy one Crest toothpaste, one box of Kelloggs Cereal, and one bottle of shampoo and get a RR for each item. Register Rewards are always 1 like per transaction.
Register Rewards do expire and usually last between 2-4 weeks so use them before the date they expire. If they do expire the Walgreens registers will accept them but some cashiers are strict about the expire date and won't accept them so it's best to use them before they expire.
Also make sure you check with your local stores to see if they accept other stores coupons. Since RRs are manufacturer coupons other stores can accept them.
